So Chelsea went to this school function for choir. She was so excited! She dressed really nice and at 6pm I took her to school. As I was walking out, I hear "Mom, Mom". I turned around and Chelsea has asked if we could take her friend home. I said, "of course" So her friend got really excited and started huggng Chelsea and jumping up and down. I thought "Wow, she must have to walk home pretty far, she sure is happy".
Well, they were supposed to be back at 10pm so I drove to the school and waited about 30 minutes. It was very eerie and no one was around. Then this guy pulled up to me and said that they had not even left Scottsdale yet that it would likely be another hour.
Ugh!
So I go back at 11 and they are there. They had just gotten there. So the girls get in. I ask Chelsea friends for her address so I can put it into the navigation unit. She said she doesn't know her address. I am thinking "oh great. I do not have ESP here". So she gives me her cross streets and said she can get there using back roads. So I put the cross streets in the nav unit and I go on my way. I didn't even give it a second thought until we started driving out West. I said "Where do you live?" She says Tonopah which is about 20 miles out. I thought that was a little strange
because she goes to Buckeye High and not Tonopah High. I asked her why and she gave me an answer that I never did understand. She made no sense at all.
So we are driving, driving, driving, and I look at my navigation unit which tells me that we will arrive in 1 hour. 1 HOUR?!?!?! Yes, she lives 35.1 miles away in the middle of nowhere in Wintersburg NOT Tonopah on a dirt road with only one other house within a 25 mile radius. I am NOT joking.
The whole time there is a know-it-all braggert and very condesending to Chelsea. Saying "ummm no sweet heart that is not a church" etc. So there we are in the middle of the desert and I miss the one exit to go onto another road that goes behind the mountain and she starts snickering. She turns her head and snickers into her hand. I said "Did I miss the exit?" and she continues to laugh and says yes. So I turn around and get on the right road and now I am just mad. This girl was incredibly rude and kept complaining about how annoying my navigation unit was. UGGGGH!
So I asked her why her parents did not pick her up. She says because they cannot afford that gas. So I asked her how she had planned to get home if I couldn't have driven her. She said she would have found a ride. I know, weird huh? So I said did you ever go home at all today? She said no that she gets picked up at 6:30 in the morning and she had been at school ever since. Call me overprotective but no way in heck would I allow my children to hang around school all day long. Nor would I allow them to just find any ole ride all the way to the middle of nowhere. SO weird! I should have known when she said that he real Dad is 5'2 with his combat boots on and her stepdad enjoys shooting jack rabbits "though them is some fast critters, Daddy can still shoot em". Yea. OK.
So Chelsea and I roll in at 1:10am finally. I pour myself into bed and at 7am on the nose my children are awake and ready to go.
So that's my Friday night saga.
So today I am thankful for a 3 day week where I will get to see my husband for 4 days in a row :) YEA! It's like Friday all over again come Wed. YEA!

Dude...WTF on the kid needing a ride to BFE and then complaining about it and being rude to your kid. I'da left her a$$ on the side of the road...no, just kidding I wouldn't have done that...but I would have wanted to. :) Kudos to you for driving her home.
